We had to leave Mia & Dan's bucks weekend early unfortunately, but other important events were scheduled that day. Namely, Richie and Kam's beautiful wedding in the Botanic Gardens!
So we drove back to Sydney on Sunday morning with a lunch stop in Kiama and got ourselves across to the Opera House by 3pm. Maddeningly as we waited at the ferry stop, an announcement came over saying that the next ferry was cancelled! Our consternation was short lived though, as about 30 seconds later a water taxi pulled up and yelled "Alright everyone who wants to go to Circular Quay it's 10 bucks each!" So away we went.
Poor Sarah's knee was in a lot of pain after attempting to lift up a 6 foot 4, 120 kilo plus water polo player at the Bush Dance the night before so it was a slow hobble around to the gardens, but once we got there it was just a fantastic ceremony. Short and really personal, with a touch of Jewish tradition and the bride looked incredible. Richie scrubbed up ok too.
Then we went to the reception just around the corner at an incredible spot, where we were sipping expensive champagne a few metres from the Opera house with views right out over the harbour towards the bridge. It was really nice to catch up with Dempsey & Jarred, Rhio & Chis and Rodney & Anna, who we hadn't seen for ages.
The marquee was stunning, the flower arrangements themselves boggled the imagination! Heartfelt beautiful speeches, a really funky band and impeccable food and service rounded out a sensational reception. The coolest bit was the bride and groom being hoisted into the air on chairs by the crowd on the dance floor... and then Richie being hurled into the air by a big white sheet!
