Banging Koks

By the time we got to Bangkok we were damn sick of south Asia. I mean we really did love India and Nepal and had an incredible time in both places, plus we had a great day hanging out with Deb in Bangladesh, but we didn't realise how nice it was to be out of there until our cab ride from Bangkok airport to our hotel. Everything was so clean, the smells were delectable, the food incredible, the people all so smiley and sweet are rarely wanting anything out of you and not staring gormlessly at you... we had gotten so used to the life of being a tourist on the subcontinent that coming back to South East Asia was like prancing through elysian fields!

Anyway we had a great couple of days in Bangkok, meeting up with Matt and celebrating his birthday with some ladyboy cabaret, eating street pad thai, swimming in the hotel pool, drinking cocktails by the bucket on Khao San Road and buying tonnes of knock-off t-shirts. I've seriously never been so happy.

Then we got the bus up to Chiang Mai for another week at Elephant Nature Park - which turned into over two weeks - and the happiness ratio just went through the roof. Almost indescribeable how good a time we had. But more on that later.
