We just finished a sauna followed by an hour-long massage on beds perched on a rustic wooden deck in the middle of a gorgeous jungle flower garden in the centre of a quiet monastry. For 4 bucks. Life's tough.
Currently we're in Vientiane and I must apologise profusely for the lack of action on the blog lately. Cambodia just passed me by, as have the last two weeks of Laos. The Lao computers aren't co-operating with all the photos I want to stick up, so you'll just have to struggle on with my tedious written narration.
So where was I? Oh yes the massage..ahhh. Last night an incredible French meal which we splurged on ($12 for the 2 of us). The day before that? Of course, we went on a trek through lush rainforest for a couple of hours on the back of a beautiful elephant! Sixty-four years old apparently, but I swear she didn't look a day over twenty. What an experience, we crossed a couple of raging rivers by some waterfalls and my "shutter finger" is all cramped up from taking too many photos. Better head back for another massage...
This was in the middle of spending three days riding a motorbike around a high plateau in the south of Laos, checking out coffee and tea plantations and about half a dozen stunning waterfalls, sleeping in bungalows perched over the river. The only way Sarah agreed to the riding was if I sat on the back for half the journey while she rode. Yes people, I was her "bitch".
Have I made everyone jealous enough yet? Good cos I gotta go.
