What a bugger. We finally got the Vietnam visa and got the hell outta Kunming last night on the misnamed 'express' bus to Dali, a small cobble-streeted town nestled between the mountains and the lake in north-western Yunnan. Beautiful place, we met some great people on the bus and they got us into a gorgeous and ridiculously cheap hotel room where we slept soundly all last night.
A little too soundly in fact. Some bastard managed to break into our room and flog my digital camera, some travellers cheques and some cash. Neither of us knew a thing about it until I checked my bag later that morning. Luckily the blighty bandit didn't see my money-belt and wallet sitting on the chest of drawers right by the door. A Chinese couple in another room had the same treatment, both mobile phones and some cash nicked.
Ah well, gotta love travel insurance.
