So about 2 weeks ago now we jumped off the 27 hour train from Shanghai and stepped into the muggy Hong Kong air. We hooked up with my good friend Woody once she'd finished work (and managed with a superhuman effort to control herself from stabbing her boss in the eye with a company-issued pen) and we all jumped on the double-decker streetcar straight to the Happy Valley races.

A Hongky highlight - the poor buggers over there there aren't allowed to gamble apparently (hence the casino-city of Macau) but they are allowed to have a flutter on the ponies and everyone goes a little nuts on Wednesday nights at the track.

Spirits were high, the beers were cheap and lady luck was smiling at first and Sarah won a grand 3 dollars

Then Shane Dye had a shocker in the 6th race and it was all downhill from there
