Panda-monium sounds too corny, but I'm going to use it anyway

Sarah, Sophie and I were on a bus ride today out to the biggest Buddha in the world. When we got there I tried to stand in front of it all day and everytime people walked past shake my head and say "Pffft, I've seen bigger!" Eventually the girls got hungry though and we had to go.

(this isn't the biggest one, but I thought the biggy was kinda tacky, I liked this guy better)

But the point is, Sarah and I were chatting on the bus ride and we came to the momentuous decision that we love pandas so much that when we get back to Sydney we're going to buy the two biggest, puffiest black and white cats we can find and call them Mao Mao and Ping Ping.

After teaching them to pee in the toilet of course.

If you're also a closet pandaphile and want to learn more, here's the website for the research base we went to: Panda lovin'

Ok so here's another shot of the big buddha place - there were hundreds of thousands (apparently) of buddhas in these gorgeous gardens

Hey Mike: Found your site while looking for info on Chengdu. My girlfriend and I are headed to China tomorrow and will be in Chengdu next week. Can you recommend a place to stay there? The hotel info we've found so far has not been very satisfying. The places sound generic and/or expensive. Drop me a quick note if you can: dfg-web (at) lightningfield.com. Thanks and enjoy your trip! Great photos and writeups. Liked the signage. --David
