I'm off tomorrow on the Minters Games, our little lame corporate version of the Olympics. Where the east coast offices of Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Canberra battle out for sporting supremacy in such mighty events as...badminton. Apparently there was quite a contoversary about the use of regulation shuttlecocks this year, thankfully I didn't have to witness that particular riveting argument.
Anyhoo the upshot is that they're flying us to the pulsating urban hub of Ballarat University to stay in skanky, I mean illustrious, dorm rooms so we can fire up and show those other 'regional' offices who's boss! Just like we did last time when the Sydney team apparently placed a respectable 4th...
I expressed an interest in swimming, so now I've been chucked in the backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly races. Hmmm, well I haven't swam any of those strokes since the year 9 swimming carnival which was a good 15 years ago. I had my first and only practice on Tuesday night and spent my whole lap of backstroke either tangled in the lane-ropes or headbutting people swimming in the other direction. Breaststroke seemed to be going well until I was passed by a 5 year old kid on a pool pony. On the plus side though, I managed to make half a lap of butterfly before being rescued by the lifeguards.
