Then yesterday I worked out how to make this blog so I have a way to record my trip and let people know how I'm going without the horrors of group email.
Most importantly, yesterday I also found out that we WON THE MIXED TEAM CATEGORY FOR THE SYDNEY HARBOUR SURFBOARD PADDLE ON AUSTRALIA DAY!!! Ahem, sorry about the shouting, but it's very exciting.
Our team, the Paddling Possums:

What a bunch of finely honed peak-performance athletes!
I should probably put our achievement in perspective however, and note that we were the only people to actually enter as a mixed team. Which explains why we won, even though I had a beard grown down to my knees by the time we got out of the water…
Unfortunately we were unaware of our amazing performance and left the prize-giving ceremony early so that I could rush off to Big Day Out which means I missed my chance to pash Layne Beachley on the podium when she presented our awards! Layne - there's always next year baby.
And thankfully we still get to enjoy our prize of face-forward rap-jumping off some sort of indoor cliff in Castle Hill. First thing in the morning after my farewell work drinks… I'm hoping to beat my puke to the ground.

Nice work Mike. How is the real surf going?? I miss it so.
Look after Rani for me.
Best of luck in the future and don't forget that I don't like you very much and think your sense of humour is weaker than a cup of tea with a tea bag used 400 times.
Cheers, mick
