Shawnigan Lake

So we've spent the last two days hanging out at Sarah's parents house in paradise. Here's the view from their deck:

Baby deer in the backyard

The only problem is that I copped a horror bout of food poisoning the other night (I blame the BC Ferries veggie burger - I knew it was dodgy on the first bite...) so I haven't been able to stick to my initial plan of running through the forests, riding the hills and swimming in the lake. Instead I've had to sit on the deck sipping ginger ale and holding my aching gut. It's a bit of a tease, but I can think of worse places to recuperate.

Sorry to hear about your illness. It sucks being sick when travelling. I got horrible food poisoning backpacking through Italy, but it taught me never to trust a sausage from an Argentinian street food vendor when he checks the temperature of said sausage with the back of his hand.

Enjoy the rest of the trip!

Did you catch Bambi and eat her? Oh no wait, Bambi's not a vegetable or a fish, but gosh she looks cute (and tasty!).

That lake looks divine. There's a lake in Phnom Penh, but it's covered in green slime and smells and seems more like a putrid pond -Frogspawnigan Lake?

I hope you get well rapidly, Mike -I'm totally bummed I haven't done any exercise (except a few gentle stretches) in almost a week, it takes ages to recover your energy post-food poisoning. In other news I'm onto series 3 of Veronica Mars, so being sick has its benefits...

Love to you both,
Rani

PS Who is looking after the kitties?
