Driving up to Byron

Last weekend for Easter Sarah and I took a few days off and drove up to Byron Bay for the East Coast Blues & Roots music festival. First step was a ten hour drive from Sydney where thankfully we had Mia and Dan to share the driving and keep us sane with interesting chats, beach stopovers and quizzes and crosswords.

The only scary part of the trip was pulling into Byron in the late afternoon when Sarah noticed the little black legs of a spider poking out from the under the visor above her head while she was driving. Not being a big fan of spiders she rapidly pulled over and exited the car (in that order thankfully, although it took some convincing). I went around to have a look and Dan flicked the little black spider outside, which sailed past my head and hit the ground. Hmmm, a redback (only one of the most venomous spiders in Australia with a potentially fatal bite). Thank god for Sarah's spider senses!
