Birthday was lunch with Sarah, my parents, her parents and her brother down in Manly, follwed by a lovely casual summer evening with mates in the tiny beer garden of the pub behind my apartment. Couldn't get more perfect.
The next morning - Saturday 7th Jan - was wedding-a-rama and after an early surf with Ada and Alison to steady my nerves I sent Sarah and all the bridesmaids and mothers off to get their hair, makeup, nails etc done over lunch and champagne for the next few hours while I napped at home! I wanted it to be casual and the boys took it seriously, they showed up about 15 minutes before the wedding with my best man and brother Tim rocking up right at the starting time, I actually bumped into him arriving on my way down to the park to get things rolling - he'd jumped on the wrong ferry! But he was there by my side all ready to go a couple of minutes later and suddenly it was all happening.
Anyway enough blabbering, onto the photos. Here's the scene: Sawmiller Reserve in McMahons Point, a gorgeous harbourside park tucked away down a bush track so nobody knows about it and there wasn't a single other person at the park. The day (and the previous two days) had been rainy, cloudy and dismal, but the sun came out about an hour before we all got to the park (and the rain pissed down about an hour after we left)

When Sarah came down the stairs on Gary's arm I couldn't believe how gorgeous and radiant she looked

The ceremony. Our friend Chab did an awesome reading... well actually she just read out the chorus of Tina Turner's "Simply the Best", but to great effect.

Our celebrant Louise was so lovely, she only met us once but did a perfect little ceremony and was so touched by our vows to each other that she started tearing up and had to be rushed a tissue by my mum so she could carry on! That was the sweetest thing. (By the way we highly recommend her, her website is www.celebrantbythebeach.com) Here she is composing herself.

Now we're married

Pashing for the cameras

I was just so happy to have my wonderful wonderful group of friends with us that day, I was smiling constantly. Thank you so much to my mum and dad - Margaret and Tom - for organising the whole thing, it was just wonderful. And fantastic that Sarah's parents and brother - Gary, Reby and Joe made it all the way from Canada to be with us. Here's the whole group.

I can't believe I'm married now.
We cannot wait for the next wedding in Canada in July with Sarah's extended family and her oldest friends, plus a few of my good friends who couldn't make it to Sydney - all at her parents' beautiful home at Shawnigan Lake. Nothing like extending the celebrations!
