The first day cruising down the delta was very cool though. It must have been bath time because families on both sides of the river were out the back of their stilt houses having a wash in the placid dark-brown waters. Everyone was so lovely, waving wildly and screaming HELLOOOO!!! until you reciprocated and their faces lit up with joy. I've never seen such a happy bunch of people, this went on for hours all the way down the river. Kids would be playing around splashing each other and then one would catch sight of foreigners on the boat and let out an almighty yell of delight and suddenly there's all these kids launching themselves off bridges and posts for your viewing pleasure!

Actually the next morning was fun as well when we all piled into tiny rowboats sculled by weatherbeaten women with a unique motion where they faced forward and rowed with short jabs. I was tempted to show them the traditional western backwards row (hell you don't see any Olympians facing forward and standing up) but who am I to mess with tradition?

We went and saw a floating fish farm and some minority village. Kids were cute there.

Eh, that's about all I have to say about that.
