Yellow Mountain

Huang Shan or Yellow Mountain - most sacred of all of China's mountains. Apparently it's the ambition of every Chinese person to climb it at least once in their lifetime. The incredible scenery has inspired so much Chinese art and there is a saying that once you've ascended the peaks of Huang Shan, it's so amazing that you'll never want to climb another mountain again.

I was just excited that there were no monkeys...

What can I say about it - just an absolutely breathtaking mountain on a clear warm sunny day with not too many tourists. Perfection. Except Sarah had a cold and could barely breathe, but she did damn well - we walked again for 8 hours, much of it straight up. We eventually got a gondola to the bottom because all the hotels up top were full and we'd never make it down before dark. Nothing else to say but check out the pikkies:

The hard way up

The easy way up
