Geez I love a good random street encounter! Nothing makes my day happier, and it seems to happen all the time lately. I think the thing about it is that it makes me feel like I live in a community. There's definitely something to be said for the strip of shops on the main drag in the heart of a suburb (as opposed to heartless malls marooned in vast carparks on the outskirts of civilisation) and a decent public transport system which means that people are walking around and bumping into each other, rather than just driving on by.
I think I must run into someone I know on Blues Point Road almost daily, even if just for a wave and a smile, and it really does make my day. Often it's Lisa Mitchell-Library running on the boardwalk, Nicky getting a sandwich (when I wander by with a random mango), Brian getting out of his car to go to yoga or David and Lisa stopping me to mention they'd seen my photo in the Minter Ellison Community Investment Brochure! Today's chance encounter was Clint from my apartment building riding his bike to work and stopping for a chat. Pure morning gold!!!
